I used to trim book cloth with scissors, now it's exacto knife all the way after slicing a finger open on a tear

Broke my favorite pair of shears on a thick linen last March and grabbed a #11 blade out of desperation, and cutting against a steel ruler gives me clean edges in half the time, so has anyone else made that swap and never looked back?

And honestly the switch to a fresh #11 blade against a steel ruler changed everything for me too, the control is way better than any scissors I've owned. The trick is you gotta snap the blade off more often than you think, a dull tip will fray the cloth and that's when you end up slipping. Once I got into the rhythm of changing blades every couple of projects, I've never even thought about pulling out shears for book cloth again.
