My cat decided to "help" me glue a textbook spine yesterday...

I left a fresh pot of PVA out for 30 seconds and my orange tabby dipped his tail right into it... flicked glue all over my brand new pressing boards. Has anyone else had a pet sabotage a binding project mid-step?

... I ended up taping a paper towel roll around my cat's tail like a little sleeve, worked surprisingly well for quick glue jobs after that. Just gotta make sure they can still move around comfortably and it doesn't bother them too much. Kept my pressing boards clean and my cat out of trouble, mostly.

Three times I've had cats knock glue bottles off the bench and I just work around it. It's a workshop not a museum, a few glue drips on your boards add character and don't affect the final book at all. Let your cat be a cat and stop trying to control every variable in your hobby space.

Ha! That paper towel roll trick is genius actually. I've just accepted glue drips on my bench but the tail sleeve might save a few boards around here.
