Question about grain direction after a demo at the bindery in Portland
I sat in on a hand binding demo at a shop in Portland about 3 years ago and the guy running it grabbed my folded folio and refolded it the other way right in front of me. He said the paper tells you which way it wants to go and I had been fighting mine for years without knowing it. Now I run every sheet over the edge of the table before I even think about folding, and my spines sit way flatter than they used to. Curious how the rest of you test grain on thinner stock, since the table edge trick gets sketchy under 70 gsm for me.
