Random guy at a garage sale gave me a tip on rounding book corners that I still use 5 years later.

He was like 80 years old and just showed me how to use a simple sanding block instead of a fancy tool, and now I swear by it even though my coworkers think I'm crazy for not buying a corner rounder.

Idk a sanding block is still a tool though.

Right?? People act like a sanding block is just a scrap of wood but it's literally holding the sandpaper. I had someone tell me my homemade one didn't count and I was like dude it works exactly the same.

Man that older guy knew what he was talking about. I got handed down a beat up sanding block from a guy who used to restore old books and he showed me how to go light on the pressure so you don't chew up the corners. @robinson.hannah I see what you're saying about a sanding block being a tool but it's such a basic thing compared to those plastic corner rounders that cost like thirty bucks and break after a year. The old guy told me he'd been using the same wooden block since the 70s with just new sandpaper wrapped around it. My buddy at work keeps trying to get me to switch to a metal file but I tell him the sanding block gives you way more control on the edges.
