So my spine press cracked right down the middle yesterday
I was pressing a batch of 6 text blocks for a set of journals and about halfway through I heard this loud pop. Looked down and there's a hairline fracture running the full length of my press. Thing is, I've been trying to decide if I should just glue and clamp it back together or if this is my sign to finally invest in a metal one. What do you all do when your equipment breaks mid job? Do you fix it or just upgrade on the spot?

Glue and clamp it for now.

Have you ever had a friend who tried to glue a broken chair leg and it ended up worse? My buddy did that once, clamped it too hard and the whole thing just snapped in half. So yeah, take the glue advice with a grain of salt.

Your buddy sounds like he was trying to win a physics demolition derby with that clamp, not fix a chair. Maybe next time he should just sit on the floor.
