That $40 bookbinding glue I bought off Etsy ruined my entire leather cover project

I tried that fancy wheat paste mix from a seller in Portland and it turned my leather all sticky and weird after 48 hours. The pH was way off or something because the spine cracked when I opened it. Anyone else have a bad run with specialty glues from small shops?

Have you tried a PVA glue like Lineco instead? That leather crack sounds like the pH really messed up the bond.

Wait, you're saying the pH issue could mess up the bond that badly? I always figured leather was tough enough to handle most glues (guess I was wrong about that). Thanks for the tip on Lineco, @victor_jones99, I'll grab some for my next repair instead.
