That one Wednesday where I glued my fingers to a book spine and still finished the rebind by 5 PM

I had this old encyclopedia from 1962 that kept falling apart on page 247, so I spent a whole afternoon making a new linen cover and then somehow got rubber cement all over my thumb and the spine at the same time, but I just kept working through it and the client said it looked better than new how do you guys handle those messy glue days without wanting to toss the whole project?

My buddy tried that whole "just keep working through it" thing with a leather journal and ended up with a price tag fused to his forearm. He said he started using those little plastic finger cots for page turning, now he just peels off the mess like a lizard shedding skin.

glued my fingers to a book spine" is a great band name, honestly that alone makes it worth the mess.

Man, that's the worst. I've definitely had moments where I'm just sitting there with glue on both hands staring at a half-finished cover wondering why I do this to myself. The trick for me is to just keep a bowl of warm soapy water nearby before I even start. That way when the inevitable happens I'm not cussing up a storm trying to peel my thumb off the workbench. Saved me from trashing at least three projects so far.

Reminds me of the time @victor_jones99 I glued my coffee cup to the dashboard.
