Two years of hand stitching vs one weekend with a sewing frame, no contest

I kept telling myself my hand stitching was fine, even after 300 books, but my wrists were done by Tuesday every week. Last month I borrowed a proper sewing frame from a guy in Portland and ran a 400 page textblock on it. The tension was consistent for the FIRST time, no more fighting each signature as I went. I still finish the joints by hand, but the frame does the heavy lifting and my hands actually rest now. Anyone else put off getting a frame because they thought it was for old timers only?
