Vent: my bone folder went through the wash and still works fine
Honestly I left my favorite bone folder in a book stack and my partner tossed the whole pile in the washing machine on accident last Tuesday. The handle cracked a bit and it smells like lavender detergent now, but it presses creases just as clean as before. Anyone else got a tool that survived something it really shouldnt have?

Wait, did you check if the TEFLON coating on that folder is still actually intact after the heat cycle? Cause if it melted even a little, it might be leaving micro-residue on your paper that you cant see yet.

Did you ever look at it under a magnifying glass or something? Cause I had a buddy who did this exact thing with a laminated work badge, and he thought it was fine too. Then like a week later he goes to write a note and his pen just skips across the paper where the residue was. He had to throw out like half a ream of paper before he figured out it was the folder, not the pen. It was invisible to the naked eye, but you could feel it if you ran your finger over it, all slick and weird. @cora863 is onto something with this, because that micro stuff stays around way longer than you'd think. He ended up just switching to a plain plastic sleeve and never had the issue again.
