Wasted $60 on a heat press that was way too small for any real book work

I bought a little 8x10 heat press off a marketplace deal thinking I could use it for book cloth and endpapers on small projects. Turns out it barely handles a single page without burning the edges and the pressure is all wonky. Anyone else get suckered into a tool that just didn't cut it for bookbinding work?

Bought a tiny 8x10 press myself last year thinking I was being clever and thrifty. First project I tried to do a book cloth cover and ended up with an endpaper that looked more like a grilled cheese sandwich than anything useful. Pretty sure my pressure settings are just a suggestion at this point. At least it makes a decent paperweight now, so the sixty bucks wasn't a total loss.

Maybe just a learning curve thing though.

Long learning curves usually mean something is fundamentally broken.
