Can we talk about growing mint indoors with a grow light? Mine went wild in 10 days

I set up a cheap LED strip in my kitchen corner last month, and my mint exploded like I've never seen before. Leaves got huge and dark, but the flavor turned almost bitter, not the fresh taste I wanted. My basil under the same light stayed normal, so it's not the setup itself that's the problem. Did I just stress the mint out, or is indoor light always going to mess with the oils? Has anyone else seen this weird split between herbs under the same conditions?
