Guy at the arboretum corrected my fern ID and he was right

Last Saturday at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, this older man heard me telling my friend a Boston fern was a sword fern. He just tapped my shoulder and said, 'That's not a sword fern, look at the spore pattern.' I brushed him off at first, but when I checked the fronds up close, the sori were totally different. He then spent 10 minutes showing me how to tell them apart using the leaf texture and stem shape. Has anyone else had a stranger school them on plant ID in public, and how do you handle being so flat out wrong?
