Had a lightbulb moment about my pothos vine growth pattern

I was watching my pothos vine crawl along the bookshelf last week. It hit me that the leaves always face the window, even when I turn the pot, so they're really seeking out the best light. Makes you wonder how plants know which way to grow, doesn't it?

Read somewhere that plants have cells that can sense light direction, it's called phototropism. They basically grow more on the shady side, which makes the stem bend toward the light source over time. Your pothos is doing that leaf by leaf, lol.

Doubt plants actually sense light like that. Could just be random growth that looks smart over time.

Wow, just give the pot a quarter turn each week.
