I finally gave in and tried a moisture meter after 3 dead fiddle leaf figs
I killed three fiddle leaf figs in two years, all in my living room near a north facing window in Austin. My neighbor kept telling me to get a moisture meter, but I thought it was a gimmick, like those plant apps that just guess. Last month I borrowed hers for a week and realized I was watering on a schedule, not on actual soil dryness. The readings showed the bottom of the pot was still soaked while the top felt dry, so I was drowning them slowly. I bought a $14 one from the hardware store and now I only water when it hits a 3 or lower. Anyone else stubborn about soil tools and then felt stupid after trying one?
