I used to think talking to my plants was silly, but a friend in Denver changed my mind.

For the longest time, I just watered my ferns and left them alone. Then my friend showed me her greenhouse where she talks to her seedlings every morning. She said it's less about the words and more about the carbon dioxide you breathe out when you're close. I tried it for a month with my struggling basil, and it actually perked up. Has anyone else noticed a real difference from just spending more time near their plants?

Honestly, that whole CO2 thing feels like a stretch. The amount from your breath in a big room is so tiny it probably does nothing. Could be that when you're talking to the plant, you're just noticing it more and watering it better without realizing. My basil died even though I talked to it every day, so maybe it's just luck.

Less about the words" is the key part, it's just your breath.

Yeah, @paul286 has it right, it's all about the CO2 boost.
