Just read that some orchids can take up to 15 years to bloom for the first time from seed, which is wild.

I found that out in a book from the library called 'The Hidden Life of Trees' and it makes me appreciate my little windowsill orchid so much more, anyone else have a plant that's testing your patience?

My fiddle leaf fig has been stuck at three feet tall for almost two years now. It drops a leaf every time I look at it funny. Does your orchid ever seem to go into a total growth standstill, or does it just slowly put out new leaves while you wait for that bloom?

Yeah that's insane, makes my avocado pit look like a speed demon. Read somewhere they can take a decade just to fruit from a seed. Nature's patience game is on another level.

Feel for you @mila_brown10, my avocado seedling is basically a houseplant at this point. I've got a friend who grew one from a pit and it took eight years just to get a few sad fruits. Makes you respect those giant old trees at the farmers market, knowing they've been working on that for like twenty years. My rosemary cutting grew roots faster than this avocado wants to grow a new leaf, lol.
