Just realized I was overwatering my succulents for 2 years
I kept wondering why my jade plant was turning yellow and mushy, then a friend pointed out the soil was wet 3 days after I watered it. Anyone else find out they were killing plants with kindness too late?

Oh man, the finger test is a game changer but you gotta be careful. I thought I was doing it right but I was poking too close to the edge of the pot and the soil felt dry when the middle was still soaked. Actually killed a snake plant that way. Stick your finger in near the base of the plant, like a full knuckle deep, and if it feels even a little damp just leave it alone for another week.

used to be all "just water when the soil feels dry" without actually checking lol. now i stick my finger in the pot every time before watering and my plants actually look alive.
