My $11 greenhouse thermometer was off by 8 degrees the whole spring and I nearly cooked my seedlings

Bought a cheap digital thermometer from a hardware store in Akron and didn't realize it was reading 8 degrees too low until I noticed my tomato seedlings wilting, has anyone else had a thermometer fail on them mid-season?

Checked the battery terminals on mine when it started acting up and found corrosion throwing the whole reading off. Cleaned them with a little vinegar and it snapped back to accurate. Might be worth opening yours up before you toss it.

Read somewhere that a little baking soda works for cleaning corrosion too lol.
