My ferns looked worse with daily misting, so I tried something else
I have a few ferns in my living room that were not doing well. Everyone in my plant club insists you must mist ferns every day for humidity. I followed this rule for months, but the leaves developed brown edges and spots. I thought the water on the leaves might be causing issues. Last week, I stopped misting and placed a bowl of water with pebbles near the plants. Now, after some time, the ferns are greener and the brown spots are fading. I believe misting isn't always helpful and can harm some indoor ferns. It's good to question common plant care tips and see what works for your own setup.

My friend was sure daily misting was key until her fern's leaves turned crispy. She tried the pebble tray thing too and now it looks way better.

Used to swear by daily misting for all my ferns. Your experiment with the water bowl actually makes more sense. I'm ditching the spray bottle for good.
