My venus flytrap caught a fly and then died a week later

I had this little venus flytrap on my kitchen windowsill for about 6 months. It was doing fine, catching the occasional fruit fly. Last Tuesday I watched it snap shut on a big housefly and I was so proud. Gave it a little extra water because I thought it earned it. A week later the trap went black and the whole plant just gave up. I'm pretty sure I overwatered it after the catch. Does anyone else's carnivorous plants get dramatic after a big meal?

Trap probably exhausted itself digesting that big fly.

Had the same thing happen with my Venus flytrap last month. I left it alone for a few days after it caught something big and it perked right back up. They just need some time to finish the meal and rest.
