Shoutout to my $45 soil test kit for telling me my hydrangeas were starving
I bought a $45 soil test kit from the garden center on 5th Street two months ago after my hydrangeas kept turning brown, and every plant person online told me to just dump coffee grounds and eggshells on them instead. The test showed my soil pH was way too high and my phosphorus was almost zero, so I grabbed a bag of elemental sulfur and some bone meal for another $20 and the blooms came back in about three weeks. Why do so many folks in this hobby swear that kitchen scraps fix everything when an actual test tells you what's really wrong?
