TIL my pothos was drowning because I watered on a schedule, not when the soil was dry
I posted a pic of my sad yellowing pothos in a plant group back in January and one person asked me straight up, "are you watering on a calendar or on the soil?" Turns out I'd been giving it a full cup every Sunday for almost 2 years. She told me to stick my finger 2 inches down and only water when it feels dry, and also to dump the extra out of the saucer. 6 weeks later the thing pushed out 4 new leaves and stopped dropping the old ones. I get now that my schedule was for me, not the plant. So how do you all decide when to water the ones that like to dry out? I'm still scared of letting them go too long.
