Watch out for that 'organic' potting mix label, I almost lost my seedlings
Picked up a big bag from a local nursery in Portland last month, the label screamed organic so I trusted it. Three days later my basil and tomato starts were yellowing and stunted, tried everything from watering changes to more light. Finally tested the soil pH and it came out at 8.2, way too alkaline for young plants. Turns out the mix had a ton of composted manure that was still breaking down. Has anyone else had a bagged mix that seemed fine but cooked your roots from the inside out?
