Zone map trust cost me my favorite shrubs

I relied on the zone map for my new shrubs last year. They all DIED after a frost that the map said wouldn't happen. This system is too broad and misses local details. Now I use old farmer almanacs and local tips. It feels like a gamble every planting season.
