Stopped at a tiny shop off Laugavegur last Tuesday where a guy cut me a cube of hakarl and said the trick is chasing it with Brennivin. I always figured the whole thing was a dare for tourists, but the bite was way milder than the smell, kind of like strong blue cheese with a fishy finish. Anyone else tried it straight up, or am I the only one who thinks the shot is what people are really scared of?
