My brother in law got me to stop cutting the crust off my kid's sandwiches
I always figured crust was just tough and my 4 year old would hate it, so I cut it off for 2 years straight. Then my brother in law Marcus, who cooks at a diner in Duluth, watched me do it and asked why I was throwing out the best part. He said the crust gets a little chewier and that's the whole point, it makes kids work their jaw and they end up liking bread with some bite. I tried leaving it on last Tuesday and the kid ate the whole thing without a word, so now I feel like a chump for all those wasted edges. Does anyone else's kid actually prefer crust, or is mine just weird?
