Bought a cheap grill thermometer on a whim, ended up cooking the best steak of my life last Saturday
I always figured my gas grill was fine as is. Set it to medium and went by feel. My brother in law brought over a digital probe thermometer from his camping gear and told me to try it. I laughed it off but he insisted. Internal temp hit 130 and the steak came out perfect. Not dry, not raw. Now I feel silly for going 15 years without one. Has anyone else avoided a simple tool and later regretted it?

Feels like half of adulting is just admitting you were being stubborn for no reason.

Feeling like half of adulting is just admitting you were being stubborn" - yep, that hit hard. For me, it helped to just stop and ask myself "what am I actually trying to prove here?" Usually it was nothing important, just me digging my heels in. After that, backing down got way easier.
