Fell for a $200 'smart' coffee maker that burned my morning brew
I got suckered into buying a fancy wifi coffee maker off an Instagram ad last month. It was supposed to let me schedule my coffee from bed and adjust brewing temp from my phone. First week it worked okay, but then it started burning the coffee because the heating element wouldn't shut off right. I tried resetting it three times and even messaged the company, but they never replied. Ended up tossing the whole thing after the carafe cracked from the heat. I'm back to my old $20 Mr. Coffee now and it makes better coffee in half the time. Has anyone else gotten tricked by those overhyped kitchen gadgets on social media?

Is it really that big of a deal though... you spent $200 on some Instagram gadget and expected it to last? That's kind of on you for trusting some random ad on social media without reading real reviews first. I mean, sure it sucks to lose the money, but it's only $200 and you learned a lesson about buying kitchen stuff from sketchy online ads. Plus, your old Mr. Coffee probably makes the same exact cup of coffee for a fraction of the price, so why even bother with the fancy stuff in the first place...

Hold up, people are really acting like losing $200 on a bad coffee maker is a life altering tragedy. Like, yeah it stings a bit but you're acting like someone swiped your whole savings account. It's wild to me how worked up some of y'all get over this kind of stuff when half the time you can just return it or sell it on Facebook Marketplace. Not saying the ad was smart to trust, but calling it a "big deal" seems like a stretch when you're just out the cost of a few nice dinners.

Nah, $200 is rent money for some folks, so stop acting like that's nothing.
