Finally hit 10 consecutive days of stretching before my morning coffee break
I used to just roll out of bed and chug caffeine straight away, but three weeks ago I started doing 5 minutes of hip openers and hamstring stretches on my living room rug instead. Has anyone else noticed a huge difference in back pain just from swapping the order of their morning routine?

Used to think morning stretching was useless unless you were a gymnast or something. Then my PT told me to try it for three weeks and the difference in my lower back was ridiculous. That coffee break stretch is the real deal.

@emery199 that coffee break stretch is no joke. For me it was just 5 minutes of cat-cow in the morning total game changer for the same reason.

What exactly did your PT say about the timing? Like, is it more about getting the blood flowing before you're even fully awake, or is there some specific reason doing it right after standing up from sleeping makes a bigger difference than stretching later in the day? I ask because I tried morning stretches a few times but gave up after a week, and I wonder if it was just the wrong type of stretch or if I wasn't patient enough. The lower back thing you mentioned is exactly my issue too, so I'm curious if you did any particular moves besides the coffee break stretch that seemed to help.
