Had to pick between finishing my coffee or catching the train, I gambled and lost
Chose the coffee, missed the 8:14, and spent 22 extra minutes standing on a cold platform staring at my now-empty cup wondering if it was even worth it, anyone else make bad break-time decisions?

Yeah the "staring at the empty cup" part hits because it's always right after you make the choice that you realize you're just trading one small disappointment for another. It's like life's way of reminding you that every small win comes with a hidden cost these days.

Man, that's it exactly. It's like we can't even have a tiny win without the world taking a bite out of it.

My buddy Dave got laid off last spring and finally landed a job in September. He was so pumped he went and bought himself a nice coffee maker to celebrate, like a little win for himself. First day on the job he got there early, made himself a cup, and then his boss pulled him aside to tell him they were cutting everyone's hours starting next week. He just sat there staring at that coffee going cold, same empty feeling.
