My coffee break epiphany about the office microwave

For six months, I've been heating my leftover pasta for exactly 2 minutes on high, and it always came out with a cold, hard center. Yesterday, my coworker Greg saw me do it and just said, 'You know that button with the picture of the plate? That's for reheating, not the number pad.' I'd been nuking it on the wrong setting this whole time. Anyone else have a basic appliance that outsmarted them?

Ever notice how they never tell you what the beeps actually mean? It's like they want us to guess if it's done or just angry. The whole thing is a secret code we're supposed to just accept.
