Question about those cheap phone chargers from the gas station
I grabbed a $3 charger at the Speedway on Main Street last Tuesday because my cable snapped. It fried my phone battery in two days and now I have to pay $60 for a replacement. Has anyone else lost money on those impulse buys?

Kinda gotta disagree with one thing - gas station chargers usually don't fry your battery that fast, they just don't regulate the voltage right and slowly kill it over time (which is still bad, don't get me wrong). Sorry you got stuck with a $60 fix, that sucks.

Oh man, that's rough! I used to be the type who'd grab any cheap charger without thinking twice, like "it's just a cable, how bad can it be?" But after I bought a $2 one from a 7-Eleven last month and my phone started overheating while charging, I totally changed my mind. It's just not worth saving a few bucks when you could end up messing up your whole battery or worse. I learned the hard way that those cheap chargers don't have the proper safety stuff inside to protect your phone. Now I just spend a little more on a decent one from Amazon or Best Buy and it lasts way longer.
