Saw a coworker eat the same $2.50 vending machine sandwich for 14 days straight and I had to say something
I take my breaks in the second floor break room at the insurance office where I work, and there's this guy Dave who sits at the same corner table every day. For two straight weeks I watched him buy the same sad turkey and cheese sandwich from the machine by the elevators, the one that's been sitting there since who knows when. On day 14 I finally asked him about it and he said he just doesn't want to spend brain power deciding what to eat, so he picks the first thing he sees. I get it, lunch decision fatigue is real, but I started noticing other people doing the same thing with the same snacks or the same sad salad every single day. It made me realize how many of us are just running on autopilot during our breaks instead of actually taking a break. I started bringing leftovers from home and eating outside on the bench by the parking lot, and honestly those 20 minutes feel way longer now. Has anyone else noticed a coworker stuck in a food routine like this, and did you ever say anything or just let them be?
