Shoutout to the diner on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie that lets you sit as long as you want
Stopped at this little diner off Route 9 in Poughkeepsie last Tuesday on my way back from a parts run, and I noticed something I can't stop thinking about. Nobody rushed me. Not once. I got a coffee, a plate of eggs, and sat there for 45 minutes reading a beat up paper someone left on the counter, and the waitress just kept topping me off without a word. Here's the part that got me: a guy next to me was doing paperwork for what looked like an hour, and she refilled his cup like four times and never gave him the look. You know the look. The one that says buy something or leave. I'm so used to places where the check hits the table before you finish chewing that it honestly felt weird at first. Turns out the owner was behind the counter and I heard him say we don't turn tables at lunch, people eat fast enough on their own. Has anyone else found a spot that just lets you sit and breathe for a bit, or is that a dying thing?
