Showerthought: A customer's comment about my route made me see my town differently
I was grabbing a coffee on my break yesterday, and a regular at the corner store in Springfield said, 'You see the whole map, don't you?' It hit me that after 300 deliveries, I know the backstreets and shortcuts better than my own neighborhood. Anyone else have a job that gives you a weirdly specific view of a place?

That line about "seeing the whole map" is so real. I used to do house cleaning and you get this weird mental blueprint of people's lives, like which street always has the good yard sales or who has the loud dog. It's a totally different layer to a town.

Wow, I always thought my job was just driving, but you're right, it's like learning a secret map.
