Switched to herbal tea on my breaks and now my coworkers think I'm meditating
I decided to ditch coffee for herbal tea to calm down during my 15-minute breaks. The first time, I was sitting quietly, sipping slowly, and staring into space. My team saw me and started whispering that I must be doing some deep meditation or having a crisis. Now they keep asking if I've found inner peace, and I have to explain I'm just trying not to spill hot tea on myself. It's become this whole thing where they mockingly offer me cushions for my 'zen sessions'.

People get weird when you're just sitting still doing nothing, it makes them nervous.

See that it's not really about nerves but broken social rules. Most people expect constant activity, so stillness feels out of place. Their discomfort comes from habit, not your actions.

Consider how much we read into simple acts. They saw a quiet moment and built a whole story around it. It says more about their need for noise than your choice of drink.
