The Wednesday my kettle died at 7 a.m. in Austin, I nearly lost it

I mean, my whole break routine depends on that first cup, and the steam wand just gave out mid-boil. I spent my entire 15 minutes trying to fix it with a paperclip and ended up burning my hand, has anyone else had a tiny appliance fail at the worst possible moment?

Paperclip repair attempt sounds like something I would absolutely try too, and the burn makes it so much worse lol. Had my toaster pick the exact morning of a job interview to start shooting smoke and sparks, ended up eating stale crackers in the car while reheating my coffee in a gas station microwave. Small appliances really do have a sixth sense for the worst possible timing, it's like they wait for the one day you can't afford to deal with it. Hope your hand heals up quick and the kettle replacement is cheap.

Tbh that gas station microwave coffee is a whole different kind of survival mode, I've been there more times than I wanna admit. The worst part is you can't even be mad at the toaster because it's just sitting there looking all innocent like it didn't just try to burn your kitchen down. Ngl, small appliances definitely got some kind of built in chaos timer that goes off right when you got somewhere to be. Hope your interview went okay and you got a proper breakfast after all that mess.
