Tried eating lunch in my car with the seat heater on and learned something about myself
So last Wednesday I decided to eat my sandwich in the parking garage instead of the break room because Carol from accounting was reheating fish again. I got in my Corolla, cranked the seat heater to level 3, and just sat there in the quiet for about 15 minutes. Weird thing is I felt more rested after that than I do after a full hour in the break room listening to people talk about their fantasy teams. I mentioned it to Dev at the front desk and he said he has been doing this for 2 months and calls it his "mobile office." Now I am wondering if I have been doing breaks wrong for the last 6 years at this job, because sitting alone in a warm car with no one asking me questions is apparently my ideal lunch. Only problem is I fell asleep for a second and woke up to a parking attendant knocking on my window. Has anyone else found that a weird spot is their best break spot, or am I just becoming the car nap guy now?
There is a whole thing where people just need a spot that is not home and not work where nobody can get to them for a few minutes. I read once that the guy who wrote a book about quiet spots in cities said the car is the last private room most adults have. It makes sense, your Corolla does not have a Slack channel or a Carol with fish. Dev has been doing it for 2 months so he is basically an expert, you are just catching up.
