A foreman named Duane said to butter the brick before cutting, and my wet saw blade lived 3x longer
I was burning through wet saw blades every couple of weeks on a job in Fresno, going through about 4 blades a job and my boss was getting on me about the cost. An old foreman named Duane pulled me aside and said to just drag the brick through a bucket of water before it hits the blade, keep the cut wet the whole way through. I figured he was messing with me since the saw already has water on it, but I gave it a shot on the next 2,000 brick and that same blade lasted the whole job plus another one after it. The dust stopped caking up around the guard too, which was its own headache before. Now I keep a 5 gallon bucket right next to the saw and dunk every unit, it adds maybe 2 seconds per cut. Anyone else pick up a small habit like that from an old timer that sounds like nonsense until you try it?
