Found a trick for keeping my string line from sagging on long walls, and it's stupid simple
I was laying a 40 foot run last Tuesday on a job in Dayton and my string line kept dipping in the middle no matter how tight I pulled it. Drove me nuts for an hour. Ends were dead on, middle was about 3/8 inch low, and you could see it in the course. I tried shimming the line blocks, tried a second wrap around the corner, nothing worked. Then an old guy on the crew named Walt watched me fuss with it and said just hang a couple of spare bricks off the middle with a loop of line. Dropped the sag right out. I know it sounds like something your grandpa would say, but it worked on the spot. Question is, how do you all handle it on runs longer than 40 feet, or am I overthinking this and brick weights are the answer every time?
