Just had a brick saw blade shatter on a custom cut for a fireplace

It was a 14-inch diamond blade on a Milwaukee saw, and it just exploded halfway through a 4-inch thick paver. I had to stop the whole job and drive 45 minutes to the nearest supplier for a replacement. Anyone have a better method for cutting thick stone without risking this again?

Ugh, that's the worst. Did any pieces hit you? I had a cheap blade come apart cutting a curb a few years back, sounded like a gunshot and left a chip in my safety glasses. Scared the hell out of me.

That sounds brutal, man. I mean it feels like everything's just built to break these days.

Was it a continuous rim blade or segmented? Segmented ones can handle deeper cuts better without binding.
