Got schooled by a cashier at Home Depot over cheap paint brushes
I was at the Home Depot off Route 41 buying a 3-pack of those 99 cent brushes for a fence job and this older cashier named Carol goes "son, those will shed bristles all over your paint in about 10 minutes." She pointed me to a 4 dollar nylon brush that's still going strong after 3 fence panels. Anybody else have a random employee save them from a bad buy?

Honestly I think cheap brushes have their place for rough work like fences.

Cheap brushes actually work fine for fences if you don't mind losing a few bristles in the wood. Ever tried a roller instead for that kind of job though?

Wait, have you actually tried a roller on a fence @grace_wright? I did that once and it was a mess lol, the paint went everywhere and I spent more time cleaning up than doing the actual job. But yeah, cheap brushes are totally fine for fences, I've used them loads of times and the bristles that fall out just blend in with the wood grain anyway. Plus you don't feel bad throwing them away when you're done, which is a bonus. I'd rather lose a few bristles than deal with a roller setup for something that rough, honestly.
