Guy at the San Antonio flea market sold me a $5 toaster that outlasted my $80 one
Two weekends ago I was digging through a bin at the flea market off Highway 90 when this older guy pulled out a scratched up chrome toaster and said 'five bucks, it'll outlive you.' I laughed and bought it just to be nice. My $80 one from the big box store died after 14 months, and this rusty thing has been making toast every morning since. He also threw in a free cord because the original was frayed. I asked why he was so sure and he said 'they stopped making them to break.' Now I'm second guessing every kitchen gadget I own. Anyone else got a cheap flea market score that embarrassed their fancy upgrade?
Kept a $15 rice cooker going for 12 years until the lid finally cracked. My roommate used it more than me and still talks about that thing like it was a family pet. Some cheap kitchen stuff just refuses to quit.
