I finally tried buying an off brand instant pot and it actually worked fine
My sister kept telling me to get an Instant Pot for meal prep but I couldn't justify $80 on a gadget. Found a generic one on Amazon for $32 called 'ChefWave' or something. Used it 4 times last week for beans and rice and it did the job. No leaking, no burning. Anyone else had luck with no name pressure cookers from random brands?

Same here, $80 seemed steep but a $30 off brand changed my mind completely.

That "changed my mind completely" line is exactly how I felt. I was the same way, couldn't stomach paying $80 for a brand name. Got a $30 Vonshef one on clearance and it's been fine for two years now. Rice comes out good, beans don't burn, and it hasn't blown up on me yet. I think these generic ones are probably made in the same factory as the name brands anyway. If it works, it works. No reason to overpay for a sticker.
