It took me 8 years to realize I was pricing my work way too low
I used to look at other pest control guys charging $300 for a basic ant treatment and think they were ripping people off. I kept my prices around $150 because I figured customers would appreciate the deal and come back. Then last summer I had a customer in Decatur tell me 'you're too cheap, I actually don't trust you'll do a good job.' That hit me hard. I started asking around and realized budget buyers don't always want the cheapest option, they want the best value for their money. I raised my prices to $225 and actually started getting more calls from people who were serious about getting the problem fixed. Has anyone else had that moment where lowering your price actually hurt your business?

My neighbor's kid tried that "too cheap" thing with his lawn mowing business and now he charges double what he used to. Honestly I think he just got lucky with timing more than anything.
