Overheard a guy at Walmart saying a $30 air fryer is a scam waiting to happen

I was grabbing paper towels and this dude was telling his friend that any air fryer under $50 is basically a fire hazard waiting to pop. Said he bought one from a discount store in Phoenix and it melted his counter after 3 uses. I get being budget conscious but is there a real price floor for these things? My $40 one from last year is still going fine so idk if he just got a dud. Anyone else have a cheap one hold up okay?

Dude probably bought one of those no-name brands off Amazon that is literally just a heating element taped to a fan. The REAL scam is paying $30 for something that doesn't have an actual temperature sensor so it just burns everything you put in it.

Honestly that's such a bummer. I had a similar thing happen with a cheap air fryer I got on sale, just kept burning everything and making weird noises. Ngl, it really sucks when you try to save a little money and end up with something that barely works. Hope you can get your money back or find something better.
