People keep buying cheap air hose fittings and wondering why they leak

I saw three different posts last month from guys using those $2 plastic fittings from Harbor Freight and they all had air loss problems until they switched to brass ones from a real hardware store, has anyone else noticed this same issue with the cheap stuff?

Yeah but my uncle used a plastic one for years with zero problems, weird.

Man your uncle must have gotten the only plastic one ever made that actually works. I bought a three pack of those cheap things once and I swear my air compressor started crying harder than I did when I realized I wasted 8 bucks. Swapped to brass and suddenly my tires actually stay filled longer than a single trip to the gas station. Its like the universe decided to teach me a lesson about being cheap I guess.

Jumping on this because I picked up a pack of those cheap plastic quick connects from a discount tool store and they started leaking after about a week of light use. Swapped to brass ones and the difference is night and day no more hissing or losing pressure when I'm just trying to fill a tire.
