Pro tip: check the clearance aisle at grocery stores more often
I was grabbing bread at my local Stop & Shop last week and found a bottle of good olive oil marked down to 99 cents because the label was dented. Has anyone else scored random deals just by giving that section a quick look every visit?

Wait till you hit the clearance section at a Target on a Tuesday morning... I found a whole bag of organic quinoa for like 80 cents once, just because the bag had a tiny tear. Also scored some fancy pasta sauces that were near their sell-by date for next to nothing. It's like a treasure hunt if you're patient.

Does the Target clearance thing ever backfire though? I tried that once and ended up buying like 6 jars of some weird artichoke spread I'd never even heard of, just because it was a buck. It was gross and now it's sitting in my fridge. But you're right about the timing, Tuesday mornings are totally the sweet spot. My sister works retail and she says they do markdowns on Mondays after the weekend rush, so Tuesday is when the stuff is actually cleared out. Also, check the freezer aisle clearance too, that's where I found a bag of frozen chicken breasts for like $2 once because the box was crushed.
