Bought the $8 store brand beans over the $15 fancy ones, dinner was actually better

I grabbed the cheap pinto beans and a bag of frozen veg instead of the fancy pre-seasoned mix, and my chili came out so good that even my picky brother asked for the recipe, what are your go-to budget swaps that somehow taste better?

Huh, I get it but I actually disagree, I think the $15 mix wins out most times. Cheap beans taste fine, but the pre-seasoned stuff saves me time and effort that a flavor boost just can't cover.
