Dried beans are actually fine, I was wrong
I used to only buy canned beans because I thought dried ones would take forever and taste like cardboard. Last month I tried a bag of pinto beans from Aldi for $1.29 and soaked them overnight. They cooked in about 90 minutes and honestly the texture was way better than canned, plus I got 3 meals out of one $1.29 bag. Anyone else made the switch and saved money?

Gonna be real with you, I was exactly this wrong for years. My first try at dried beans was a total disaster - I forgot to soak them, then tried to cook them in a hurry and ended up with crunchy sludge that even my dog turned down. But after giving them another shot following your exact same method, I'm a convert. That Aldi bag of pintos saved me like 10 bucks compared to buying the same amount canned, and the texture is genuinely creamier. Just don't ask about the time I thought I could skip the soak with lentils and ended up with bean soup that looked like swamp water.

Did you try adding baking soda to speed up the soak?
